A former officer with the Neenah Police Department charged in a child pornography case is due back in court.
23-year-old Owen Halls is set to have a plea and sentencing hearing today (November 7th) inside an Outagamie County courtroom.
Halls has been charged with two felony counts of Possession of Child Pornography, to which he pleaded not guilty back in July.
However, with a plea and sentencing hearing scheduled for today, it appears the former Neenah Police Officer will change his plea, signaling that he and the state have reached a plea deal.
The 23-year-old was arrested on March 26th earlier this year.
Two days prior to his arrest, the Kaukauna Police Department contacted Neenah Police, stating that they had received an Internet Crimes Against Children tip, identifying Halls as the suspect.
Following the execution of search warrants and evidence review, Halls was taken into custody and subsequently fired from the Neenah Police Department.
It was later confirmed by investigators that he used multiple online accounts that contained child sexual abuse material.
If a plea deal is not reached, Halls is scheduled to stand trial in Outagamie County, beginning on November 20th.
