The Republican Party of Manitowoc County is getting ready with less than a year left before the 2026 election.
For the state level, Chairman Collin Braunel explained to Seehafernews.com that he feels that both Gubernatorial candidates, Washington County Executive Josh Schoemann and Congressman Tom Tiffany, both have experience in executive leadership plus the trust and credibility of the constituents they represent, which will be good for the party showing fiscal responsibility and Republican values.
Braunel says while it’s good to have the support of Republican voters, you know will vote red, it’s getting the middle ground voters.
“And those middle ground voters, they do look at both sides and way the pros and cons of a candidate,” he explained. “And I do believe that our candidates, especially this time, are more relatable. They’re speaking to the things that the voters want to see. And I think that is definitely going to reach those middle-ground voters.”
Braunel says issues like finding paths to bringing businesses to Wisconsin and not touching the voters’ pocketbook will work in their favor.
“Some of the individuals on the other side, they tend to be a little bit more willing to reach into the pockets of the voters,” he stated. “Whereas our candidates are trying to look for a way to save the voters money.”
Like we explained with the Democrats, the Republicans also have their get-out-the-vote plan ready, and registered Republicans will be getting ready to knock on doors soon.
But Braunel says it’s more than just the state race, it’s about local elections as well.
“County board supervisor, city council, school board, a lot of those things are going to be happening relatively soon here,” he noted. “And when that happens, every single one of those individuals is going to be needing to do that (knocking on doors) in order to win.”
