Milwaukee County is considering emergency funding for supplemental food assistance due to the lapse in federal funding.
The county’s budget finance committee will meet tomorrow to consider $150,000 to support residents who rely on SNAP benefits, which stopped going out this month because of the government shutdown.
The money would be taken from the county’s unallocated contingency balance.
The resolution would send the $150,000 to the Department of Health and Human Services, and give the agency a chance to help impacted residents.
