Bail has been set for the Manitowoc man arrested for his third OWI over the weekend.
34-year-old Nathaniel Maldonado-Ruiz was present for a hearing yesterday (November 3rd), where Court Commissioner Patricia Koppa set his bail at $500 cash on charges of OWI 3rd and one count each of Felony and Misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
Maldonado-Ruiz was pulled over just before 10:30 p.m. on Saturday in the 800 block of Schroeder Drive after an officer with the Manitowoc Police Department noticed illegally tinted windows and a license plate that did not belong to the vehicle he was driving.
During the traffic stop, the officer immediately noticed the smell of alcohol, while the 34-year-old admitted to not having a driver’s license.
He also told officers that he had had a few shots before getting behind the wheel.
He was then ordered to complete a field sobriety test, which he failed.
In addition to his cash bail, Maldonado-Ruiz was also ordered to maintain absolute sobriety, and he is not to operate a vehicle without a valid driver’s license.
He will return to court for his initial appearance on November 10th at 1:30 p.m. in Branch 3.
