A new option for getting across the Mississippi River in Southwest Wisconsin launched this morning.
A car ferry service between Crawford County and Lansing, Iowa, is set to run seven days a week, as of this morning.
The service is needed to help drivers avoid a 90-minute detour that was put in place with the closure of the Black Hawk Bridge.
The first trip from Iowa runs at 5:45 each morning, and the last trip back into Iowa runs at 9:00 p.m.
The ferry takes about 15 minutes, including loading and unloading.
