
The Valders Vikings boys’ and girls’ teams will compete today at the WIAA State Cross Country meet at The Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids. Both teams placed second at last week’s Division Three sectional meet in Manitowoc to qualify. Individually, Roncalli junior Elliot Onesti will be running in Division Three after his sectional championship last week at Meadow Links. Meanwhile, several girls’ runners are looking to bring home a medal. Manitowoc Lincoln junior Natalie Portmann and Ships sophomore Norah Free run in Division One; Two Rivers sophomore Ali Gallagher is part of the Division Two field; and sophomore Julianna Doerner of Mishicot runs in Division Three following her runner-up finish to Kewaunee senior Hannah Miller last week at sectionals. Races are scheduled to begin at noon.
The Manitowoc Lutheran girls’ volleyball team will look to punch their second consecutive ticket to state as they travel to Chilton to meet St. Mary Catholic in a WIAA Division Three Sectional final. The Lancers defeated the Zephyrs back on October 7th in three sets. Match time is scheduled for 7 p.m. Other sectional finals include, in Division One, Kimberly hosting West De Pere, and, in Division Two, Luxemburg-Casco taking on Xavier of Appleton at Seymour.
Berths are at stake for next week’s state boys’ soccer tournament in Milwaukee as sectional finals are being played today. In Division Four, Oostburg takes on the Prairie School in Kohler, and Sturgeon Bay battles Xavier of Appleton in Kiel. In Division Three, Notre Dame Academy of Green Bay hosts Kewaskum, and in Division One, Hortonville tangles with Hudson in Stevens Point.
There are two girls’ conference swimming meets being held today. Manitowoc Lincoln will be at the FRCC Meet in Ashwaubenon. Roncalli/ Two Rivers and Chilton/ Valders/ Brillion participate in the Eastern Wisconsin Conference Meet in Kiel. They both begin at 9 a.m., and the Roncalli boys’ varsity bowling team has a match this morning with St. Lawrence Seminary at Ledgeview Lanes in Fond Du Lac. The start time is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
