Artwork from Aschenbach (Left) and Kafka (Right)
Two art students at Lakeland University are sharing the spotlight with their artwork.
Senior artists Amy Kafka and Dakota Aschenbach will have their work on display at the Lakeland campus Bradley Gallery from November 7th through December 5th.
An opening reception for the exhibition will be held a week from today (October 31st) on the 7th from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., where both Kafka and Aschenbach will discuss their work that will be on display.
Kafka, a Cleveland resident and a professional artist with five years of experience, is currently studying studio art and will be graduating this spring. Her work explores the balance between nature, mortality, and transformation, invoking images of flowers and animals to tell her stories.
Aschenbach is a graphic design student also expecting to graduate in May.
He has said his art is an “attempt to create an external view of the world he sees around him,” with recurring themes of nature, space, and existential themes.
Currently, he is apprenticing at a local tattoo shop to further hone his artistic skills.
Those looking to hear from both Lakeland senior art students are encouraged to attend the opening reception, while more information on the work of Kafka and Aschenbach can be found by visiting lakeland.edu.
