A local mother is continuing to honor her son through an award with the Manitowoc Chiefs.
Shannon Daly created the Morgan Daly Memorial Manitowoc Chiefs Character Award in 2022 in honor of her son, who played with the Chiefs from 2008 to 2010.
Morgan lost his battle with suicide in 2016 after a successful high school football career with Valders and enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps.
The award goes to a player who honored Morgan’s character on and off the field, showcasing sacrifice, compassion, dedication, integrity, and respect.
The recipient of the award this year is Titus DiMarco, who was presented with the plaque, a certificate, and $100 by Shannon and her son Logan.
Previous recipients include Josiah Martin in 2022, Aaden Krause in 2023, and Ethan Augustine last year.
Shannon thanked the Chiefs organization for “helping our family honor (Morgan’s) legacy.”
