A convicted felon from Appleton, already behind bars, will be spending more time in prison.
Court records show that 21-year-old Tyrese Tupac Shakir Simmons was back inside an Outagamie County courtroom on Monday (October 27th) for a sentencing hearing after being convicted of Second-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon in August.
Simmons, who is already serving a two-and-a-half-year prison sentence for an additional firearm charge in Calumet County, was ordered to spend three additional years behind bars, followed by three more years on extended supervision.
This sentence stems from a shooting that occurred on June 25th last year at Erb Park in Appleton.
Appleton Police responded to the park after receiving a report that shots were fired in the area.
After learning that no one was injured as a result, officers opened an investigation, which led them to Simmons, who was said to have been with a group of juveniles when he produced a gun and fired it into the air.
When police located and apprehended him, he was found to be in possession of a handgun.
