Frozen chicken products have been recalled for possibly containing pieces of metal.
The U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced that over 4.5 million pounds of Hormel brand ready-to-eat chicken breast cases, which were shipped nationwide, including in Wisconsin, are subject to the recall.
In total, five different Hormel products were produced between February 10th and September 19th, bearing the establishment number of P-223, which are now in the process of being removed from stores.
These items were shipped to Hormel Commercial Food Service locations across the country, then further distributed to hotels, restaurants, and other institutions nationwide.
The FSIS was notified of the presence of metal in the products after numerous consumer complaints were reported.
It was later confirmed that these pieces of metal originated from a damaged conveyor belt on the production line.
Currently, no injuries have been reported related to the consumption of the recalled items.
However, any institution with these items in its freezers is urged to throw them out.
