A Manitowoc church is praising local gardeners for their amazing work this year.
Lakeshore Church’s Community Garden was founded in 2020 and features a 45-by-85-foot main garden and 12 raised beds for anyone to use.
This year alone, 1,723 pounds of produce were grown in the garden, much of which is donated to local food pantries and community organizations.
Joni Shavlik, Lakeshore UMC’s Community Garden project chair, also noted that thought goes into planning what is most needed at local pantries, as well as what church members can use and appreciate.
