A man who stole several items from the Manitowoc Walmart was caught after fleeing the scene.
Manitowoc Police were dispatched to the store at 4115 Calumet Avenue just before noon on Thursday to investigate a retail theft report.
The employees noted that the suspect had fled the store and got on a Maritime Metro Bus, but it was later determined he had fled on foot.
The suspect was later located on South 35th Street, where police made contact.
The man provided a false identity and claimed he was not at Walmart.
However, when confronted with a photo of him at the store, he admitted it was him and gave his real name.
A store employee reported seeing the 34-year-old man exit the sporting goods section with a backpack before going into the housewares department.
He allegedly ripped the tags off of numerous items, including several bottles and a couple of tea kettles, and left the building.
When confronted by employees, the man then fled on foot. He was arrested on charges of Obstructing, Retail Theft, Misdemeanor Bail Jumping, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, as a search of his person uncovered a glass smoking device.
