The Madison Police Department has a new leader.
John Patterson has officially been sworn in as Madison’s new police chief.
The city’s Police and Fire Commission appointed Patterson to the role in August after he had served as interim chief.
This follows Shon Barnes’ departure in February.
As a 27-year veteran of the Madison Police Department, Patterson has worked in every district across the city.
