A family and their dog were unharmed after a fire in the Town of Fond du Lac.
WBAY reports that the Fond du Lac County Communications Center received a call yesterday (October 20th) just after 6:00 p.m. from a woman claiming the roof of her house was on fire on County Road V.
At the time of the call, two children, one adult, and a dog were inside; however, all residents were able to evacuate the burning home prior to the arrival of first responders.
Upon arrival, deputies and firefighters observed smoke and flames coming from the house’s roof.
Once inside, they located an active fire in the attic with insulation burning, which was quickly extinguished. No injuries were reported to any residents or fire crews, and damage to the attic area is considered minimal.
While an investigation into the blaze is still ongoing, the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office has stated that the cause of the fire is likely an aging electrical system, which ignited after a light in the home suddenly went out.
Other agencies reporting to the scene include the City of Fond du Lac Fire Department, Eden Fire Department, Campbellsport Fire Department, Lomira Fire Department, Van Dyne Fire Department, and Alliant Energy.
