The Brown County Library Board has officially broken ground for a new building in the Village of Denmark.
FOX11 reports that the new Community First Credit Union Center will provide a place for residents that includes a gym, fitness center, food pantry, and multi-purpose community space inside the former Early Childhood Center on North Wall Street.
The nonprofit One Demark led the charge to bring back the brick-and-mortar library, along with the needed space.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Denmarkâs Brown County Library branch was inside Denmark High School and was closed as security protocol for the school year increased.
After that, the bookmobile has made trips around the community.
When finished, the project will have cost about $6 million, while $2 million still needs to be raised for the community center part of the project.
The project is scheduled to be completed in about a year.
