Democratic lawmakers in Wisconsin have proposed two bills aimed at boosting funding for higher education by $80 million.
One measure would allocate $40 million to the Tuition Promise Grant Program.
This would assist UW System students from households earning less than $71,000 a year.
The second bill would direct $40 million toward student retention and success across the UW System and technical colleges.
However, both proposals will require bipartisan support to move forward.
