A Grammy award-winning singer is set to hit the Capitol Civic Center stage next weekend.
David Phelps and his Lift Your Voice Tour kicked off in late September and also features the musical stylings of Selah, a vocal trio out of Nashville.
Phelps and Selah have more or less grown up in the industry together, as the trio got their start in Nashville around the same time Phelps moved there.
“Over the years we’ve been on the same record label and had been in the same circles, always said hi to each other, but we’ve never shared a stage before, so it’s been really great,” he told SeehaferNews.com.
Phelps is known for having a very eclectic style, something he attributes to his parents always playing a wide array of music for him as a child.
He also takes inspiration from the iconic performer Linda Ronstadt.
“She said, ‘I never sang anything that I didn’t hear when I was a kid’,” Phelps recalled. “That really is very much my truth too.”
Phelps has performed in massive arenas like the Sydney Opera House, the O2 Arena, and more, but he told us that he really enjoys the smaller venues like the Capitol.
“When we tour, I do everything from small churches to large arenas. They all have a different kind of energy,” he explained. “I’ve grown to really like the small, medium kind of intimate places because it allows you to kind of be more relaxed with the audience and feel like you can really make a connection with them.”
Phelps and Selah will hit the Capitol stage on Saturday, October 18th at 7:30 p.m., featuring numerous musical styles.
