Poultry gatherings across parts of southeastern Wisconsin have been suspended following a bird flu outbreak.
The virus was confirmed in a large commercial flock in Jefferson County, which has since been quarantined.
A second nearby facility also tested positive, leading to another culling.
As a result, poultry shows, swaps, and exhibitions in Waukesha, Walworth, and Rock Counties are paused through year’s end.
State officials are urging poultry owners to tighten biosecurity, including housing birds indoors and reducing movement.
