One person is in custody in Oshkosh after violently abusing their dog.
The Oshkosh Police Department was called to the 600 block of Frederick Street on Wednesday (October 7th) just before 9:00 p.m. on an animal complaint.
Officers received information that a video had been taken of a 39-year-old who severely injured his dog.
The video showed a young female Pitbull lying on the floor, bleeding from its mouth and head.
The video continued to show the suspect kicking the dog in the head.
Oshkosh PD would enter the residence where the video had been taken and found the dog suffering from a head injury with additional lacerations in different stages of healing, suggesting this was not the first such instance of this abuse.
Six other dogs were located inside the home and taken into the Humane Society; however, the 39-year-old was not home at the time.
The injured Pitbull was taken to a local animal hospital for treatment.
Further investigations revealed that the suspect also made threats to an individual who witnessed the incident.
Yesterday (October 9th), authorities were able to locate the 39-year-old in the area of Division Street and Irving Avenue in Oshkosh, and he was swiftly arrested on charges of Mistreating Animals, Felony Bail Jumping, and Battery or Threats to a Witness.
Anyone with additional information relating to this animal abuse case is urged to call Oshkosh PD at 920-236-5700.
