An individual armed with a machete and a baseball bat led law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit in Calumet County.
The Calumet County Communications Center was contacted by the Green Bay Police Department just before 2:00 this morning (October 9th) regarding an individual who was wanted on multiple bail jumping and fleeing/eluding charges.
The unnamed individual was reported to be armed with a machete and baseball bat and was on electronic monitoring through Sheboygan County.
Sheboygan County then called at 2:20 a.m., noting that the subject was traveling through Calumet County.
An officer with the Chilton Police Department spotted the suspect vehicle on Highway 57 shortly after and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.
However, the suspect fled, and law enforcement from numerous agencies, including Kiel Police and Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputies, joined the pursuit.
The pursuit spanned over 20 miles and came to an end when the subject drove into Lake Winnebago off the end of Gladwater Beach Road.
The subject did ultimately surrender and was taken into custody without further incident. Several bladed weapons and a baseball bat were located in the vehicle.
The subject is being held in the Calumet County Jail for charges of fleeing/eluding and felony bail jumping.
The Calumet County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the City of Chilton Police Department, City of Kiel Police Department, Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, Town of Calumet First Responders, and Gold Cross Ambulance.
