Marinette County’s District Attorney says that officers were justified in the killing of a man wanted in Madison for murder.
In a release from the Wisconsin DOJ, DA DeShea Morrow said after reviewing reports and squad videos, “It is clear that the officers were justified in using deadly force to respond to the deadly force that was threatened against them.”
Suspect Andrew Callamore was located in Marinette County by an officer who waited for backup before trying to pull him over.
After a police pursuit on Highway 41 southbound in the Town of Peshtigo, Callamore crashed and rolled across the median and northbound lanes.
He exited the vehicle with a boxcutter, which officers told him to drop.
The suspect continued to walk away and ignored the police.
Suddenly, Callamore lunged at one of the officers, which caused them to shoot Callamore while a Taser was also deployed.
The suspect died at the scene as a result of his injuries.
DA Marrow finished by thanking the DOJ for their work and said that the matter is closed.
