A teenager is facing homicide charges after a fatal drunk driving accident in Appleton.
The Appleton Police Department has shared that they have arrested 18-year-old Carter J. Green of Larsen, Wisconsin, for his role in the fatal accident that took place in the early morning hours this past Saturday (October 4th).
Appleton PD was called to the intersection of North Richmond Street and the I-41 northbound off-ramp on a report of a significant two-vehicle crash.
Upon arrival, officers found the vehicle driven by Green to have its engine compartment completely engulfed in flames.
Green and his lone passenger had exited the vehicle prior to their arrival; however, two individuals were found unconscious in the front seats of the second vehicle.
Both were extricated from the vehicle and transported for emergency medical treatment, but the driver would later succumb to his injuries at the hospital.
The ensuing investigation revealed that Green was operating his vehicle while intoxicated.
Further investigations determined that he was also traveling over 100 MPH and blew a stoplight when the fatal collision occurred.
As a result, the 18-year-old was booked into the Outagamie County Jail on charges of First-Degree Reckless Homicide and Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated Causing Injury.
At this time, a court date has yet to be scheduled for Green.
