There are two meetings on tap for today (October 7th) in the City of Manitowoc.
First up is the Room Tax Commission, which will be in the Council Chambers at 4:30 p.m.
The only items on the agenda are a discussion on the long-term visitor center and office location and future funding for the Manitowoc International Relations Association.
Then, at 5:30 p.m., the Finance Committee will take over the Chambers, where they will give the public time to comment.
They will then discuss a couple of items related to Tycore Built LLC’s project at the former Lakeshore Mall property and a couple of grant opportunities.
They will then discuss a proposed amendment to the Municipal Code, which would change the distribution of Room Tax dollars.
The code currently states that “The City of Manitowoc shall annually retain the greater of either 30 percent of the total room tax collected or $196,777.72….The remaining balance shall be appropriated to the Room Tax Commission.”
The amendment would change the verbiage to say “All funds collected…shall be appropriated to the Room Tax Commission.”
