K9 Rolo was instrumental in a drug and gun arrest in Manitowoc over the weekend.
The Manitowoc Police Department was informed of a 21-year-old man who was impaired and carrying a firearm and was leaving a residence in a vehicle.
The suspect vehicle was spotted in the 1100 block of South 19th Street, and a high-risk traffic stop was conducted.
In total, six officers and K9 Rolo were on the scene, all with handguns drawn.
The driver exited and was searched, which uncovered no illegal items, and the suspect, who was in the passenger seat, was also searched. K9 Rolo then conducted a sniff of the vehicle, which came back hot in the area of the passenger’s side door.
Several items of drug paraphernalia and marijuana were found inside, along with a backpack containing a firearm and an extended magazine loaded with 31 rounds and a band around it that read “Emotional Support.”
Some of the ammunition was said to have been hollow-point rounds.
The man was arrested on charges of Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Felony Bail Jumping, and three counts of Misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
