One person has died, and another was hospitalized after a two-day water rescue effort in Winnebago County.
WBAY reports that the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office responded to Bay Lan Boat Launch in Wolf River for a report of a boater in distress.
Deputies were able to pull a man out of the water, and he was taken to a hospital.
The man is expected to survive.
However, deputies learned that there was a second man who was believed to still be in the water after talking with another boater.
Members of the Wisconsin DNR, fire departments, and the Winnebago County Dive/Rescue Team and Drone team came to the lake to help find the victim.
But on Sunday (October 5th) afternoon, the dive team and DNR members found the body of the missing man, who has not been identified.
The incident is still under investigation.
The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Boom Bay, Winneconne-Poygan, Poy Sippi, and Omro-Rushford Fire Departments, as well as Fremont Ambulance and First Responders, and the Wisconsin DNR.
