A new therapy program is now available for those in the Sheboygan area with Parkinson’s.
Behavioral Health Clinic on North 9th Street has shared that they have begun offering the SPEAK OUT! Therapy Program.
This program aims to aid families who are experiencing speech and swallowing issues related to Parkinson’s disease.
It brings evidence-based treatment to families and is led by Dr. Stephanie Fay.
SPEAK OUT! combines education, individual and group speech therapy, daily home activities, and continuous follow-up visits.
In addition to helping with speech, it will also focus heavily on improving the ability to swallow, as swallowing complications account for 70% of the mortality rate in those with Parkinson’s.
On the positive effects this therapy program will have, Dr. Fay said, “It helps people not only regain a stronger voice, but also the confidence to connect with their loved ones again. SPEAK OUT! empowers individuals to take back control of their communication-and that’s a powerful step toward improving quality of life.”
