Roughly 400 volunteers came out in support of Habitat for Humanity Lakeside’s Rock the Block neighborhood revitalization event last week.
In total, 19 home repairs were conducted in Plymouth from September 25th through the 27th, marking the first time the event was in that city.
Jon Hoffman, the Construction Manager for Habitat Lakeside, said the event “exceeded our wildest dreams,” and that “we are heartened that so many people, companies, and organizations supported Rock the Block.”
One home-repair project took place at the home of Justin Fisher, pastor at Revolution Church in Plymouth.
Fisher’s wife, Leah, shattered her leg in June, and the two were overwhelmed with keeping their house in good repair. Fischer said he “almost started crying” when the volunteers showed up to help.
In an answer to another prayer, the Fishers will donate Leah’s motorized wheelchair to another Rock the Block home-repair resident, whose front yard and accessible ramp got a spruce-up from Rock the Block volunteers.
Habitat for Humanity Lakeside also thanked the City of Plymouth for providing “much-needed support, including use of the fire house community room for Rock the Block headquarters.”
