It looks like there were more than 21 people who were arrested during an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operation in Manitowoc County last week.
WISN 12 in Milwaukee says that the US Department of Homeland Security announced that 24 undocumented immigrants were actually arrested after initially saying it was 21.
FBI Milwaukee says they were assisted by the US Marshals, DEA, CBP, and IRS-CI, saying “all subjects are in the country illegally, with nine being targeted for their suspected involvement in the sexual assault and/or trafficking of minor American girls.”
The arrests have drawn criticism from immigrant advocacy groups and Progressive Lakeshore People, a progressive group formed in Manitowoc County that has held numerous protests against the Trump Administration.
In an announcement to Seehafernews.com, they question whether ICE and other agencies actually had arrest warrants or if the nine people arrested were actually involved in the trafficking of the girls.
The FBI Milwaukee originally stated, “Law enforcement partners are dedicated and focused on protecting and safeguarding our Wisconsin communities every day.”
