The City of Two Rivers might not be doing something new with the Neshotah Beach Concessions stand after all.
City Manager Kyle Kordell explained on WOMT’s Be My Guest program that there has been a lot of community feedback saying that there hasn’t been enough support for knocking the stand down and starting over.
However, Kordell explains, “There is a lot of support to invest more capital improvement funds into the beach. We just need to figure out how to what level we’re doing that.”
A resident also texted into the show, stating, “I think any update to the concession stand should be designed to maintain the beach area as a whole. I’m not strongly opposed to modernization, but I recommend that the footprint of any new facility be limited to prevent a massive change in the ambiance of the area.”
It’s part of the ongoing study that the city is conducting at Neshotah, which attracts many people from the area due to its natural beauty.
Parks and Recreation Director Mike Mathis submitted a proposal to the city council last month that would completely renovate the concessions stand, including new bathrooms and a gathering area.
The stand could not be allowed to open in the future due to health code issues.
There has also been an online petition created asking the city not to knock the concessions stand down, but rather invest in it.
