
The Manitowoc County Recycling Center has announced the dates for its next County Hazardous Waste Clean Sweep program.
Farms and qualifying businesses are encouraged to drop off hazardous chemicals and other hazardous waste at the Manitowoc County Highway Shop, located at 3500 Highway 310, between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 10th.
Preregistration is required for these groups, and must be completed at recycling.ManitowocCountyWI.gov by October 3rd.
Meanwhile, residents can drop off their hazardous waste at the same location between 9:00 and noon the following day, free of charge. Accepted items include pesticides, cleaning products, oil and lead-based paints, automotive chemicals, and mercury.
Many of these common items are hazardous when used, stored, or disposed of improperly.
Look for items that contain the warnings on their labels of Danger, Warning, Caution, Poison, Combustible, Flammable, Corrosive, and Toxic.
Latex paints will not be accepted.
