The 52nd annual Jim Bremser Memorial Cross Country Invitational will be held this afternoon in Mishicot.
Over 30 schools are scheduled to compete, including most teams from Manitowoc County and throughout northeast Wisconsin.
In 1974, then Mishicot Head Coach David Kelly renamed the annual meet hosted by the Indians in honor of Bremser, who lost his life after being struck by a car in October of 1973.
Jim’s sister, Cindy, was also a standout at Mishicot.
She went on to run at UW-Madison, where she had a stellar career, leading to her induction into the UW-Athletics Hall of Fame in 1991.
Perhaps her most significant career accomplishment was finishing fourth in the 3000-meter run at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
The first race is scheduled to start at 3:50 p.m.
