The shooting in Manitowoc Tuesday morning ended a seven-year streak in the City.
The shooting occurred in the 2400 block of Dewey Street at 1:30 a.m. and resulted in the death of a yet unidentified man.
This is the first gun-related homicide in the city since the killing of 51-year-old Richard Miller and his 19-year-old daughter, Jocelyn Miller, which occurred seven years and two weeks prior on September 7th, 2018.
Karl. M. Hess, the perpetrator of that double homicide on Dale Street, was sentenced to two life sentences by Judge Jerilyn Dietz.
The last homicide in Manitowoc occurred on August 20th, 2020, when Craig W. Holtz was arrested for stabbing an individual in the 1000 block of Marshal Street.
He was ordered to spend 25 years in prison. Others have been arrested and convicted on homicide by the delivery of drugs charges over the years as well.
Very few additional details have been released by police, including the identities of the victim and the suspect in the Tuesday morning shooting, but charges are expected to be filed in the near future.
