Law enforcement leaders in the Sheboygan area came together to hold an inaugural event last week.
The 1st annual Sensitive Crimes Symposium was held on Thursday (September 18th) at Lakeland University.
This event brought together members from the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office, Sheboygan Police Department, and the Sheboygan County Human Trafficking Task Force, amongst others, to partake in the discussion.
More than 100 individuals were in attendance, receiving instruction in many areas, with a focus on how these sensitive crimes affect victims after the fact.
The aim was to build an increased institutional knowledge, enhanced cohesiveness among law enforcement professionals, and to ensure that crime victims receive the proper support.
Sexual assault, sex trafficking, and domestic abuse were just a few of the many topics discussed on the campus of Lakeland University.
After hosting the event, in a post online, Lakeland said, “We are proud to have hosted this important event. Thank you for your efforts in offering education and supporting victims.”
