The leaders of Sheboygan Area Pay It Forward have changed their minds regarding the future of the organization.
After some heartfelt discussions, Scott and Kathleen Labonte have decided they will no longer be dissolving the nonprofit that aims to help those experiencing homelessness in the community.
Earlier this month, Scott and Kathleen told the public they would be dissolving Pay It Forward due to the struggles of finding a new permanent home and the toll running the organization had taken over the years.
Despite the two walking back that decision, they will be stepping away for some time, and the nonprofit will be on hiatus. In their announcement, they said, “Filing those papers would make it final — and our hearts aren’t ready for that.”
While adding, “Right now, we’re unsure what the future holds. What we do know is that this work has meant too much to us, and to so many of you, to close the door completely.”
While the future of Pay It Forward remains uncertain, their last day of operations, for the time being, came on Sunday (September 14th) when they held their final Sunday lunch, serving community members in need, as they have for years.
