A museum in Two Rivers is cancelling an annual event that brings in artists from across the nation.
The Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum announced they are cancelling their 2025 Wayzgoose Conference, after some artists say residencies at the museum were cancelled unexpectedly.
In a post on the museum’s Instagram account, the board of directors said that logistical mistakes happened during a leadership transition, as Hamilton is looking for a new executive director after Peter Crabbe retired at the end of July.
The statement continued to say that it was the leadership transition, and not a change in the values of artists.
In a new statement, the museum says they apologize for the way the decision was communicated to those directly involved and that, “In no way was this decision a statement on any artist, their work, or representation. We deeply appreciate and value our community.”
Those who paid to attend the Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museums Wayzgoose conference will get a full refund.
