Fifty community projects, including some in eastern Wisconsin, are getting a share of $50 million from the Wisconsin State Building Commission.
Governor Tony Evers’ office announced that the commission approved a total of $160.8 million in key projects, with the money coming from the 2023-2025 state budget.
In Sheboygan, over $2 million is going to the Weill Center Foundation for the transformation of the Weill Center, while $500,000 will be used for improvements at the Green Bay Public Market run by Broadway Inc.
The Appleton International Airport concourse will also get about $2 million from the commission.
The state commission has also approved $274,000 to the Appleton Public Library for a new building project. UW-Green Bay is getting a share of the money for the fire alarm and smoke detection system replacement.
Evers said of the funding, “I was glad to launch the Non-State Grant Program last year because an investment in local capital projects like these is an investment in local jobs and economies and improving public services and the quality of life for Wisconsinites statewide. I’m incredibly excited about these projects and the investments we’re making in communities in every corner of Wisconsin—this is great news for our state.”
