The archery and crossbow hunting season opens across Wisconsin this weekend.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources reminds hunters that starting Saturday (September 13th), they can use their arrows to take deer until January 4th.
However, in Manitowoc County, that’s extended until January 30th.
The DNR reminds hunters that just like with a firearm, archery and crossbow hunters should always treat their firearm like it’s loaded, be certain of their target, and keep their finger outside the trigger guard until they’re ready to shoot.
They also recommend using three points of contact when using a tree stand and letting someone know that you are going out and when you’re expected to return.
All deer are required to be registered by 5:00 p.m. the day after recovery as well.
