The Sheboygan Area School District (SASD) has provided an update on the ongoing referendum projects.
In 2024, district voters passed a referendum to update both Urban and Farnsworth Middle Schools, and the public now has a preview of what these updates may look like in the future.
The district has said that, for the first time, the Core Planning Team has reviewed colored renderings for certain rooms in each school, including the Urban main office and a science classroom, along with a standard classroom at Farnsworth.
Currently, the design team has begun taking a closer look at individual spaces at both schools, such as locker rooms, staff prep rooms, and group restrooms.
Designers are also beginning to focus on designing and activating an interior courtyard that will be part of the project at Urban Middle School.
SASD has said that the next steps for them as they move forward with the projects will be to finalize engineering system selections and site designs to coordinate with the City of Sheboygan and to continue with the interior design of each school.
