The Green Bay Area School District is implementing some changes after a student was arrested at Preble High School.
A loaded gun was found inside the backpack of a 16-year-old, whose name has not been released.
The backpack was in a locked classroom and was located after a fight in the lunchroom. The first major change coming to the district will be a new backpack policy.
Students will only be allowed to wear and carry clear bags and backpacks.
The new policy will take effect on September 22nd, allowing families to purchase new bags for their students.
The district will also be updating its school safety assessment.
Green Bay Police will join District officials for a roundtable discussion on September 22nd at Preble High School, where parents and the public will be given time to voice their concerns.
