A prominent healthcare insurance provider in Wisconsin will be cancelling their coverage for numerous counties in Wisconsin, including Sheboygan County.
In an email sent to customers yesterday (September 10th), Common Ground Healthcare has notified the public that beginning on January 1st, 2026, they will cancel all health insurance plans in 11 Wisconsin Counties, including Sheboygan, Calumet, Fond du Lac, Outagamie, and Winnebago Counties.
This end in coverage will affect both individual plans along with family health insurance plans as well.
In that email, Common Ground stated, “Our decision to not offer health insurance in your area next year is due to rising health care costs and unexpected shifts in the use of health services. These trends are happening in our state and across the country, making it harder for us to operate sustainably.”
For Common Ground customers, coverage in these 11 counties will continue until December 31st.
Those now forced to find a new health insurance provider, open enrollment for a new plan will open on November 1st, while a family or an individual will be required to be enrolled by December 15th in order to be eligible for coverage that starts on January 1st of next year.
Dodge, Kenosha, Milwaukee, Racine, Waupaca, and Waushara Counties were also included in the areas where Common Ground has chosen to no longer offer health insurance.
