A Wisconsin-based aviation company is laying off hundreds of employees for the second time this year.
In a letter written to the Department of Workforce Development by Air Wisconsin, 252 employees were sent layoff notices, including those working in both Appleton and Milwaukee.
It is expected that they will take effect beginning on October 28th or in the two weeks that follow.
These layoffs come after Air Wisconsin signed a letter of intent for the proposed sale of its airline operation and other assets to Premier Shuttle Holdings.
This also comes in the wake of more than 500 additional layoffs from Air Wisconsin earlier in the year, as layoffs rise and job growth shrinks across the country.
In total, 765 employees have been laid off in 2025, and Air Wisconsin has stated that these are considered to be permanent.
Despite the layoffs, Air Wisconsin said in its letter to the DWD, “Other assets that are not included with the contemplated Premier transaction will remain with Air Wisconsin’s parent company, which will continue to pursue opportunities in aircraft, engine, and parts sales and leasing. This business will employ certain Air Wisconsin employees to support its operation.”
However, at this time, it remains unclear what positions will be retained after the transition in ownership.
Those looking to find out more about the Air Wisconsin layoffs can contact the company’s Director of Human Resources, Katrina Leavitt, at 920-739-5123.
