The City of Sheboygan has lost a beloved member of the community.
Former District 1 Alder Barb Felde has passed away after a six-year battle with cancer.
Felde was 70-years-old.
Felde was a strong presence within Sheboygan for well over three decades, having worked with the Sheboygan Area School District for 29 years prior to her retirement.
Felde was elected to the Common Council in District 1 in 2019 and stayed in that role up until this year.
She was also elected by her peers as Council President, a role she held from 2021 to 2023.
In her obituary, Felde was described as “a force to be reckoned with—stubborn when it mattered, fearless in the face of challenge, and unwavering in her commitment to fighting for what was right.”
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, David Felde, two children, Chad Felde and DeeAnn Avina, and four grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held to honor the former Alder on September 13th from noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Sheboygan County Labor Council, where she served as a delegate for three decades.
