MPU has confirmed that a majority, if not all, of those affected by the outage should have their power back. The outage is being blamed on equipment failure.

There is a large power outage in Manitowoc at this hour (7:00 a.m. September 5th).
Manitowoc Public Utilities Communications Manager Jennie Nelson tells Seehafernews.com that they are aware of the outage on Custer Street and have crews on site trying to resolve the issue.
What’s causing the outage isn’t known at this time.
MPU will provide more details as new information comes out.
This has caused stop lights to be off as well, meaning the stop signs have been flipped open.
As a reminder, stop lights become four-way stops when without power.
