An elderly woman is dead after a crash in Calumet County.
The Calumet County Sheriff’s Office was called on Wednesday (September 3rd) just after 2:35 p.m. to the intersection of Irish Road and County Highway E in the Town of Rantoul.
Preliminary investigations revealed that an SUV, being driven by the 89-year-old Brillion woman, was stopped at a stop sign northbound on Irish Road.
When she pulled out into the intersection, a sedan driven by an 18-year-old Chilton woman collided with the SUV.
The 18-year-old was uninjured, but the 89-year-old succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Calumet County Lieutenant Chad Hederer says failure to yield to a right of way appears to be a factor in the incident.
The crash remains under investigation, and the names of the people involved will be released later after the family of the victim has been notified.
The Calumet County Sheriff’s Office was also assisted on scene by Gold Cross Ambulance, Hilbert Potter First Responders, Potter and Chilton Fire Departments, Calumet County Emergency Management, Chilton Police, Wisconsin State Patrol, and the Calumet County Medical Examiner’s Office.
