The Sheboygan Police Department is looking to educate children about staying safe online.
The Department will be hosting an online safety event on September 25th at 6:00 p.m. at the Sheboygan Lutheran High School Theater.
This event will be free to attend and is intended for children ages 12 and up. The program has been designed to raise awareness and equip youth with the proper tools needed to keep them safe while making healthy choices online.
Detective Brandon Kehoe will lead the discussion to help families navigate the challenges that go hand in hand with online safety.
Also speaking during the event will be Brittney Bird, the mother of 15-year-old Brayden Bohn, who took his own life after falling victim to a sextortion scam.
She will share her story on the devastating impacts sextortion can have while also explaining why prevention and awareness are so critical.
The Sheboygan Police Department’s online safety event is open to all, and no RSVP is required to attend.
