A Neenah man is pleading not guilty to the homicide charges he faces.
Court records indicate that 53-year-old Rodney Franklin appeared in Winnebago County Court yesterday (September 3rd) for a preliminary hearing.
After the evidence was submitted, an officer testified about an incident that occurred in the 200 block of East Doty Avenue in November of last year.
FOX11 reports that the victim was later identified as Keith Rieskamp after his body was found behind a residence in the area.
Neenah Police immediately called Rieskamp’s death suspicious and asked for the public’s help to provide information.
Franklin was later arrested and charged with 1st-degree intentional homicide and theft of movable property.
According to the investigator during testimony, the victim had extensive facial injuries, lacerations, and extreme swelling.
Police later found a brick, which was consistent with the injuries that Rieskamp sustained.
Witnesses said that Rieskamp and Franklin were in an argument the night of the murder.
Franklin had a plea and sentencing date set for March of the following year, as well as a jury trial date set for May.
If he went to trial for the homicide charge, he would face a mandatory life sentence if found guilty.
