
A traffic stop turned into a high-speed chase in Fond du Lac County.
A Sheriff’s Office Probationary Deputy and K9 Handler were on patrol at 7:40 Thursday evening, when they saw a vehicle nearly collide with another at the intersection of Van Dyne Road and Main Street in Van Dyne, which is roughly halfway between Oshkosh and North Fond du Lac.
A traffic stop was conducted; however, the deputies noted the smell of intoxicants, and the driver sped off.
A pursuit ensued, during which the suspect driver passed other vehicles in the opposite lane of travel over a bridge. At one point, the suspect reached speeds of over 130 MPH before a North Fond du Lac Police Officer was able to successfully deploy a tire deflation device.
The driver continued at speeds around 70 MPH into North Fond du Lac, where they eventually struck a curb and came to a stop near the intersection of Prospect Avenue and Garfield Street.
The 36-year-old male passenger from Green Bay attempted to flee on foot, but was caught thanks to help from bystanders, and was booked on charges of Resisting and Obstructing an Officer, Possession of a Schedule 1 Narcotic, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Felony Bail Jumping.
The driver, a 24-year-old Green Bay woman, was arrested on charges of 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Fleeing and Eluding an Officer, Resisting and Obstructing an Officer, Possession of a Schedule 1 Narcotic, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Felony Bail Jumping.
The pursuit lasted approximately 5.75 miles, and no civilians or officers were injured.
