The Wisconsin Maritime Museum has announced the time the USS Cobia will be leaving for a few weeks.
The WWII submarine is scheduled to leave the museum at 8:00 a.m. next Thursday (September 4th), being pulled by two tugboats.
However, that is subject to change depending on the weather.
The public is invited to watch from the shoreline of the museum as the ship is dry-docked at Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding in Sturgeon Bay.
The submarine isn’t going away forever; it’s just going to be cleaned and fixed where needed at the shipbuilding facility and will return in a little more than a month.
Two Rivers residents might also get to see the sub as it makes its 10-hour journey up Lake Michigan.
The sub is expected to arrive in Sturgeon Bay around 6:00 p.m.
The Wisconsin Maritime Museum has raised $1.5 million to dry dock the sub, with some funding coming from the 2025-2027 state budget.
