
A teen has now been formally charged with homicide after an incident on the interstate in Brown County.
WBAY reports that 18-year-old Ji-Gwe-Mko Layton of Nekoosa is facing a charge of 1st-degree intentional homicide with use of a dangerous weapon after a 60-year-old man was killed on Interstate 41 and Highway 172 in Ashwaubenon.
During a court hearing, prosecutors said the victim was driving on 1-41 when Layton shot him in the head, leading to a crash. Layton was then seen walking with a large rifle.
The 18-year-old was later arrested by police after being found in a ditch with the weapon not far from him.
The 60-year-old victim was then found in the wrecked vehicle with a small handgun near his feet.
The criminal complaint states that a that the victim died from multiple gunshot wounds.
Layton’s bond has been set at $750,000, and he will return to court on September 5th.
