The City of Manitowoc is applying for another grant to help a local malting company.
Briess Malt and Ingredients is eligible for a grant through the U.S. Maritime Administration’s Port Infrastructure Development Program.
The grant would fund improvements to port facilities in the Port of Manitowoc.
According to a city resolution, the improvements will not only benefit Briess in the long run but will also develop transportation options for third-party customers to ship, receive, store, and transport domestic and international products.
According to the U.S. Maritime Administration, President Biden’s Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act provided over $2.2 billion for the program, including $500 million available this year. No city in Wisconsin got grant money last year.
